K. C. Bacon was born in Aiea Ewa, Hawaii and raised in a Navy family in England, Rhode Island, Virginia, California, and Corvallis, Oregon. He graduated from Oregon State University and attended Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. He is a poet as well as a painter and has worked in the stevedoring industry since 1979. He currently resides in Tacoma, Washington.
